My cousin, Deng, invited me to attend the graduation ceremonies of the grammar school / high school where she teaches. Oddly enough, I felt it rather serendipitous (sp?) that the graduation fell on my last day in Bicol. I felt like I was graduating in a manner of speaking.
I’ve learned quite a bit over the last ten weeks. Proudly, I’ve accomplished everything I wanted and more. Correction, there are two things I haven’t done: 1) I wanted to take my dad to Corregidor and 2) I wanted to see the Underground River in the caves of Palawan. Given all I have seen, I’ll take the loss in fair exchange.
The ceremonies, as to be expected, included themes of ending chapters and moving forward. All in all, the perfect timing of the graduation falling on my last day in Bicol just continued the perfect timing of this whole trip. I’m so grateful for having the chance to take this trip.
